An Autumnal Friend

The following is a card I received from my best friend in High School.  As the years pass by, we realize how much we change, but still feel the same.  It's hard to explain to a High Schooler.  But their innocence is desirable to the cynics that grow within us.  And then once in a while, we do grow older with those same friends.  Our relationships deepen, and we become even closer to one another.

{________WOW! I'm so glad you're my bestest friend.  I always have someone to talk to (unless you're away with the softball team, or someone OTHER than me is at your house)!  I'm just joshin' ya!  Well I've been thinking and we really should stick together.  I can't imagine my life without you, now.  You've been a great influence on me (Dope, what you have done)!  I'm glad God sent you to me and that He sent me to you.  

I know I should listen to you more often and I regret that now.  But we all have to learn from our mistakes, right?  I know that others don't listen to you either sometimes, but I will always be here, don't ever forget about me.  There will never be a problem too big or embarrassing that I can't go to you about and I hope you can say the same about me.  I'm grateful for that! 

Another reason I'm so grateful you're my friend is because you ARE funny automatically.  When I'm around you I'm always laughing, and no it's not because of your looks but it's your jokes.  Humor keeps my soul alive and in that sense you are my life support.  Thank you for always being there..."

It's important to remember our friends, and let them know from time to time that we are thinking about them, that we care about them, that we have fun when they're around.
